0:00 Speaker A: This is the Tesla Cybertruck. Speaker B: Cybertruck, Wowzers trousers. Speaker C: The steering is insane on this. Speaker D: It is as wild inside as it is out. Speaker E: One does not simply just drive a cybertruck casually. Speaker F: Welcome back to Real Review, where we watch all the reviews so you don't have to. Speaker F: Today we're diving deep into Tesla Cybertruck. Speaker F: Is it a revolutionary marvel or just an overhyped experiment?

0:26 Speaker F: Let's find out. Speaker F: What are the initial reactions? Speaker F: Straight from the people who've driven it, because it seems like everyone has something to say about it. Speaker G: Okay. Speaker G: I genuinely can't tell if the cybertruck is good looking or not. Speaker G: And I'm being completely serious. Speaker G: Like if you just check the comments section online, it's actually mostly negative. Speaker G: Most people are saying it looks horrible. Speaker G: Looks like a refrigerator on wheels. Speaker G: It's a disaster of a design. Speaker G: But once you start living with this thing, you drive around with it and you talk to people about it who have never heard of it, they're saying things like this, this is crazy.

0:57 Speaker G: This is like a movie prop. Speaker G: It's sci fi. Speaker G: Looks something alien. Speaker E: Before driving the Cybertruck, honestly, I was braced for a lot of negativity. Speaker E: I just got done driving the Cybertruck for the first time this weekend and consider some of these reactions that I got. Speaker E: Peace signs, thumbs up, pointing laughs, pictures and judgmental stares. Speaker E: Passing by a car wash at the high school and the kids screaming, oh my God, please wash your car here.

1:24 Speaker E: And in West Hartford, I got a straight thumbs down. Speaker H: Boo. Speaker E: Cybertruck. Speaker E: As we drove by and my favorite of them all that I was asked if it even has seats inside. Speaker B: I don't want a cyber truck. Speaker B: It's too big. Speaker B: I have a slight aversion to pickup trucks, if I'm honest. Speaker B: But I can't help but like it because it's. Speaker B: Well, it's a bit like a Tesla. Speaker B: It's a bit challenging of conventions. Speaker B: It makes you think about it.

1:50 Speaker B: But the bit that I really like is that it's all straight lines, flat surfaces, vertices, but it makes everything else look square. Speaker C: Everyone is screaming something at me while I'm filming this. Speaker C: Mostly bad, but also some good people are like, is this the new set? Speaker C: Is it yours? Speaker C: How much did you pay for it. Speaker H: In a garbage can? Speaker C: Yeah, nice toaster loser. Speaker C: Like just literally everything, which is cool.

2:17 Speaker C: Especially in the city of Hamilton. Speaker C: I feel like this is a very polarizing vehicle out here, but it is very American vehicle. Speaker C: So I don't know why they're so upset over everything. Speaker C: Okay, so now that I'm driving this. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: The steering is insane on this set. Speaker I: Your ride height to high. Speaker I: You have to stay within 25 miles per hour. Speaker I: So part of the foundation series package includes your power share hardware like the universal wall connector, which they don't give you unless if you go through electrician.

2:45 Speaker D: It is as wild inside as it is out, and it's also pretty crazy to drive. Speaker D: So there's a lot of familiar Tesla looking stuff here from the minimalist interior, the screen with having just pretty much every control is right here except for a few steering wheel buttons and of course your window switches and a button to pop your door open. Speaker D: But otherwise this is a pretty spartan, plain and very Tesla like interior in keeping with what they've done in the past.

3:14 Speaker F: So, wide array of first impressions. Speaker F: It's clear that Cybertruck isn't your average vehicle. Speaker F: Let's take a closer look at the design that's causing all this commotion. Speaker A: It looks absolutely insane. Speaker A: It has insane performance. Speaker A: It comes from a company run by an insane person. Speaker A: There is nothing else like this on the planet. Speaker B: We know that the engineers found this very difficult to do.

3:39 Speaker B: I mean, I think it's got quite a happy face, which I like. Speaker B: The flatness means that it has to be very, very precisely made because the curves of a car like that or that Mercedes disguise any imperfections. Speaker B: But if you look here very closely, this piece here on the a pillar that doesn't align absolutely perfectly. Speaker B: It's only a millimeter or so out, but you can see that because it's a straight line and a flat surface.

4:05 Speaker B: It's also got quite sharp edges. Speaker E: I mean, this car is undoubtedly imperfect, especially on the outside. Speaker E: And I would not argue with you if you said that was unacceptable for $100,000. Speaker E: But I also want you to consider that Tesla built something that's really unique and also really challenging. Speaker E: There's a reason cars don't tend to have really flat panels and straight lines that go the length of the entire car. Speaker E: Because it's really hard to hide stuff. Speaker E: Cars tend to have curved panels and lines that meet up in different ways so that you can hide imperfections.

4:34 Speaker B: It's also a festival of fingerprints. Speaker B: If you're neurotic about that sort of thing, and if you're a YouTuber, very difficult to film because pretty much wherever you stand, you can see yourself. Speaker B: It's like a hall of mirrors. Speaker E: But as you come around the truck, one of the easiest places to notice some panel misalignment can usually be the doors. Speaker E: But our doors actually fit pretty well, the gaps look even, and it can be tricky sometimes to line up the rear door with the front door.

5:00 Speaker E: But again, the gap looks even top to bottom, and they sit at about the same level away from the rest of the car. Speaker E: So, honestly, not so bad. Speaker E: Going back to the flat panel thing, if you look down the side of the truck, you'll actually see some waviness and what almost looks like dents. Speaker E: And this appears to be because of the way they've fastened these panels. Speaker E: They're welded and bonded with glue. Speaker E: And because they're so flat, you see all of it.

5:25 Speaker C: There are razor sharp edges through quite a bit of this vehicle, like, especially at this door. Speaker C: So every time I open it, there's, like, burn that they could have removed, which they didn't, which is, like, a little bit sketchy. Speaker H: But maybe that affects the look of the metal and the blend. Speaker H: But they did at the front on the frunk that opens up electronically. Speaker H: Put a little bit like a plaster there, because I think that's where you'll walk into it with your face. Speaker G: Exactly. Speaker H: Which I almost did. Speaker A: Now, the other interesting thing about the Cybertruck's design is its material, because the cybertruck is almost entirely made of unpainted stainless steel.

5:56 Speaker A: This is totally different than the painted sheet metal you see in basically every other vehicle. Speaker A: It gives it a totally different appearance, and it wears a little bit differently. Speaker A: In fact, the early reports about premature wear on the stainless steel panels of the cybertruck have already caused a lot of early cybertruck owners to wrap their trucks in a different color or just to protect the body panels. Speaker F: So, unique design, questionable practicality.

6:21 Speaker F: But how do these design choices translate to performance? Speaker F: Let's see what the reviewers had to say. Speaker C: The steering is insane on this. Speaker H: Oh. Speaker H: Because it's drive by wire. Speaker H: The first drive by wire in North Carolina. Speaker C: Steer by wire. Speaker C: Yes. Speaker H: Steer by wire. Speaker C: Yes. Speaker C: Because. Speaker E: Oh. Speaker H: Drive by wire is the foot pedal. Speaker H: Yeah, yeah, my bad, My bad, Elon. Speaker C: Yeah, so it's that coupled with the. Speaker C: The ratio that's constantly adjusting, and the rear steer is insane. Speaker H: Yeah, well, you can't turn the wheel more than 180 degrees because.

6:46 Speaker H: Yoke. Speaker I: Yeah. Speaker I: Steer by wire is a game changer. Speaker I: No need to turn the wheel 360 degrees or more. Speaker G: So when you go to a real drag strip with timing equipment and all that stuff, you get one of these after there's a time slip breaks down in both lanes. Speaker G: Not just the end of the quarter mile, but multiple points along the race. Speaker G: And so I've expanded It here. Speaker G: So this was the triple motor Cybertruck's best run.

7:11 Speaker G: One of the first runs, it runs a 10.9 second quarter mile, which if you don't know, is absolutely ridiculous. Speaker G: There are bonafide sports cars that don't run in the 10s and for a 7,000 pound pickup truck to do it on all terrain tires is just kind of hilarious. Speaker G: But when you actually look at and break down each of these times, this shows the difference between quick and fast. Speaker E: It is a bit weird.

7:36 Speaker B: Yeah. Speaker E: There's stuff that you have to get used to. Speaker E: That said, once you get used to it, it's been fine so far. Speaker H: In some ways you get in and it's just big Tesla. Speaker H: It's like a Model X that just sort of hagridded. Speaker H: Is that a word? Speaker H: Nope. Speaker E: It is now though. Speaker H: But there's some things that are very different. Speaker B: I think the clever thing that Tesla have done is to. Speaker B: To reassess what might be important to people in a car and even identify things that people didn't recognize as being important.

8:06 Speaker B: I don't think people just buy them because they think, oh, it's green transport. Speaker B: It's also because the things that matter are given precedence. Speaker B: So they're easy to drive, they're quiet, they're connected, you can fuel them at home. Speaker E: The seats are comfortable, they are heated and ventilated, which is very, very nice. Speaker C: And honestly, in my time in the. Speaker E: Cyber truck they've been really comfortable, so I can't really knock them for anything else.

8:32 Speaker E: They're good seats and I like them. Speaker H: You know what the lumbar button thing is like weird. Speaker H: It's not like a circle, it's like a. Speaker H: It's like a diamond. Speaker C: Cyber circle. Speaker H: Cyber circle. Speaker F: Oh yeah. Speaker H: That is the definition of a diamond. Speaker G: Yeah. Speaker H: The seats are comfy, like good amount of room. Speaker H: The seat, the steering wheel can move, but only through the infotainment. Speaker H: These are same with the mirrors. Speaker C: These are. Speaker C: Yeah, these are like opposite as the seats. Speaker C: Seats where they're actually like really soft. Speaker C: It's not like just sitting on cardboard. Speaker I: Efficiency is way better than I thought.

9:00 Speaker I: Towing with the Cybertruck is a plus. Speaker I: You can see everything in front of you while driving. Speaker I: Sound system is amazing. Speaker I: When on a road trip, even though it's a truck, has all the space of an suv. Speaker I: Perfect road trip vehicle got sideswiped, but the truck held up perfectly.

9:26 Speaker I: Air suspension can raise or lower the vehicle. Speaker I: The Tanu is strong and powered. Speaker I: LED lights and an L track in the bed. Speaker I: Tailgating, camping, you got outlets including a 240 volt Cybertruck has 2,500 pounds of.

9:51 Speaker F: Payload, steer by wire, impressive acceleration, and adjustable ride height. Speaker F: It certainly has some tricks up its sleeve. Speaker F: Now, let's talk about the daily usability. Speaker A: The other issue that a long windshield like this creates, we've seen it in other cars, is the A pillar becomes very large to support the windshield. Speaker A: That blocks your visibility. Speaker A: Now, to Tesla's credit, they put windows inside the A pillar to make it a little easier to look out, but it doesn't really entirely solve the problem.

10:19 Speaker A: You can clearly tell there's a lot of stuff blocked by this large A pillar going pretty far into your line of sight. Speaker A: And I have a suspicion it's going to cause some cybertruck pedestrian issues because you won't be able to see everything that's there. Speaker E: There's a lot of times where I still want to see what's behind me, so that gets a little annoying. Speaker E: If I do open the tonneau cover, which it's opening now, once it's fully open, it does reveal a small window, but it's really, really short, pretty narrow.

10:47 Speaker E: And I have this microscopic rear view mirror up here, and it's pretty much just pointed at the road behind me. Speaker E: So I think most of the time you're going to be using the camera system here because Tesla actually recommends keeping that tonneau cover closed so that you get more range. Speaker E: So no doubt the design of this truck, it really impacts visibility some. Speaker E: One of the most obvious downsides of the futuristic look of this thing, the.

11:13 Speaker H: Interior is too cheap as well. Speaker H: Yeah, it's very much Tesla level, but it's just, there's creeks and it feels cheap and it's, you know, it's a lot of money. Speaker E: It's a lot of money for that. Speaker H: And the visibility is horrendous. Speaker E: And the other really strange thing up front, and for some reason, probably my favorite part about this whole truck is the giant single windshield wiper. Speaker E: And it rained while I had the truck. Speaker E: I was lucky enough to get to use it. Speaker E: But it's really weird because it is parked in.

11:39 Speaker E: In the vertical position alongside the left of the windshield. Speaker E: But then when you're using it and it's raining, it actually lands fully horizontal across the windshield. Speaker E: So it creates this bar across the bottom and it helps prevent the water from rushing up onto the windshield. Speaker E: But the second it goes back up into that home position, all the water starts running up the windshield. Speaker E: So not great. Speaker E: Kind of alarming when it's working because it's so massive but pretty interesting aspect out the front side windows and the rear side windows.

12:09 Speaker E: Despite the whole triangle shape, side visibility is actually pretty good. Speaker E: And the rear view mirrors on the sides, they work pretty well. Speaker C: Everyone is screaming something at me while I'm filming this. Speaker C: Mostly bad, but also some good people are like, is this the new side? Speaker C: Is it yours? Speaker C: How much did you pay for it. Speaker H: In a garbage can? Speaker C: Yeah, nice toaster loser. Speaker C: Like just literally everything, which is cool. Speaker C: Especially in the city of Hamilton. Speaker C: I feel like this is a very polarizing vehicle out here, but it is very American vehicle.

12:38 Speaker C: So I don't know why they're so upset over everything. Speaker C: Okay, so now that I'm driving this. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: The steering is insane on this. Speaker H: Oh. Speaker H: Because it's. Speaker G: The most dangerous thing about the Tesla Cybertruck is not the pointy edges and corners. Speaker G: It's not the fact that it weighs over 3 tons and goes from 0 to 60 miles an hour faster than a Corvette. Speaker G: It's not even the way that reflections glare off the stainless steel and can blind people on the highway.

13:03 Speaker G: No, the most dangerous thing about the Cybertruck is the way it makes other people around you on the road behave. Speaker F: So mixed reviews and daily usability, it seems like there are some trade offs for that futuristic design. Speaker F: Now, how does it stack up against the competition? Speaker H: Okay, if you had to get an electric pickup truck, just drive for a year, you didn't have to pay, but you couldn't get rid of it. Speaker H: This F150 Lightning or the Rivian that we know nothing about, I probably get this because it's the coolest looking, right?

13:32 Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker C: Like, I do really like the F150 Lightning, but it's just an F150 that happens to be electric, which is good. Speaker C: But if your conditions I have to meet because I can't sell it, I can't, whatever. Speaker C: This is cool and wild on the road. Speaker G: Yeah. Speaker H: And then I personally think that the biggest competition to this right now is the ID buzz. Speaker D: I would say compared to the F150 Lightning, the Lightning feels a little bit more refined.

13:58 Speaker D: The Rivian is maybe a better overall vehicle, more usable. Speaker D: Kind of a jack of all trades and a master of most of them. Speaker D: And I haven't spent any time in Chevrolet's new Silverado ev. Speaker D: Haven't heard great things with the handling of the that truck. Speaker D: Just because the tire pressure is like 80 psi or something.

14:24 Speaker F: Ridiculous interesting comparisons. Speaker F: It seems like the competition might offer more practicality in some areas, but the Cybertruck definitely stands out in terms of design. Speaker F: But what about the price? Speaker F: Is the wow factor worth the investment? Speaker D: We have 123 kilowatt hour battery pack, 310mil of range, costs around $102,000. Speaker C: Actually didn't realize that these were so expensive in Canada. Speaker H: And then what's the Cyberbeast?

14:49 Speaker C: A lot more. Speaker H: A couple tens of thousands more. Speaker C: Not as much more as I expected it to be, but it is quite a bit more. Speaker E: Car is undoubtedly imperfect, especially on the outside, and I would not argue with you if you said that was unacceptable for $100,000. Speaker E: Yeah, there's a lot to like about this car. Speaker E: However, when it comes to the interior experience, you're spending $100,000 on this and it squeaks and cracks and pops and moves and makes noises like my 1980s Volkswagen hatchback.

15:23 Speaker H: It's, it's, it's creaky. Speaker E: It just doesn't, it's not acceptable. Speaker I: I think at a hundred thousand dollars, it maybe is a little expensive for what you get. Speaker I: I wish that there was a lot more of these features that I put in as my dislikes implemented into the Cybertruck and I really hope that on the second generation Cybertruck they include these features. Speaker I: I would probably say $100,000 is too much and I would like to see that price tag closer to the $70,000 mark.

15:53 Speaker I: I think that would make it extremely competitive in the truck marketplace. Speaker F: So there you have it. Speaker F: Tesla Cybertruck. Speaker F: A vehicle that's as polarizing as it is angular. Speaker F: It's undeniably innovative, surprisingly quick and guaranteed to turn heads. Speaker F: But it's also plagued by questionable design choices, inconsistent build quality, and a user experience that does get some getting used to, Is it worth the hype and the hefty price tag? Speaker F: Well, that really depends on what you're looking for.

16:19 Speaker F: If you want a unique, attention grabbing EV with impressive technology, and don't mind the few quirks, cybertruck might be just for you. Speaker F: But if you prioritize practicality, refinement and a proven track record, you might want to consider a more established competition. Speaker F: Ultimately, the Cybertruck is a big, bold statement. Speaker F: But whether it's a statement you want to make is entirely up to you. Speaker F: That's it for our ultimate review roundup video for Tesla Cybertruck.
