Speaker C: On paper, this is now the best one. Speaker D: Welcome back to re review where we watch all the reviews so you don't have to. Speaker D: Today we're diving deep into the oppo find N5. Speaker A: This is actually so thin, it's like ridiculous. Speaker A: It's almost too thin.
0:26 Speaker A: And it's really strong because something that they're showing here is how strong the whole hinge is. Speaker E: It only just f fits a USB C port. Speaker E: I'm not exaggerating. Speaker E: The inside of a USB C port is 2.4 millimeters. Speaker E: Once you add in the structural housing, you get to about 4 millimeters. Speaker E: The Oppo Find N5 is 4.2 millimeters thick when unfolded. Speaker F: For comparison, this is the Find X5 and this is the Z Fold 6. Speaker F: Even when I unfold these two phones, you can definitely see how much thinner The Oppo find N5 is.
0:58 Speaker E: So folded. Speaker A: The N5 is 8.93 millimeters thin and it also has a 6.66 inch display which is really similar to like a regular style slab phone. Speaker A: So it's nice and easy to use this phone when it is closed for that. Speaker F: It really just feels like a normal phone. Speaker G: The find N5 is using what's called their Cosmos ring here for the camera module. Speaker G: The design and this is now 40 slimmer than the previous generation.
1:24 Speaker G: And I like the silver we get around the frame here. Speaker G: Now the hinge feels excellent. Speaker G: It it's really good. Speaker G: And look at how thin this phone is. Speaker D: Wow. Speaker D: The Thinnest is clearly a game changer. Speaker D: But it's not just about the looks. Speaker D: Let's talk about durability next. Speaker A: It's really strong because something that they're showing here is how strong the whole hinge is. Speaker B: Oppo proved what a tough nut the find N5 is by dangling a 20 kilo weight off it. Speaker B: So I find N5 proper hard case.
1:52 Speaker B: If you scuff its Nikes, it'll probably deck you. Speaker F: It is IPX6, IPX8 and IPX9 rated, meaning it can deal with being submerged in water or blasted by a jet of water, which I wouldn't know why I would do that. Speaker F: But it's good to know this will survive it. Speaker B: It's not dust resistant. Speaker B: You don't want to get any little bits of grit in there. Speaker B: Probably wouldn't like that very much at all. Speaker B: But it can be fully immersed in water and also Take a full on spurt in.
2:17 Speaker E: Both phones have a pretty tough custom aluminium alloy frame. Speaker E: They've both got fantastic feeling hinges that allow you to stop at almost any point in the motion but then kind of feels like Oppo runs away with it. Speaker E: Their front display is imbued with ceramic which we've seen on quite a few phones. Speaker E: Does increase structural strength. Speaker A: Sadly, I have dropped this phone already when I've had it folded open and it still seems to be holding up pretty well. Speaker A: I'm not scared of breaking this. Speaker A: It feels solid.
2:42 Speaker A: Despite it being the thinnest foldable that you can get, it doesn't feel like I'm going to break it. Speaker D: Impressive durability for such a thin device, but there's a dust resistance concern. Speaker D: Now let's move on to the display. Speaker A: Quality and that folding display is the star of the show. Speaker E: It's huge. Speaker A: It's 8.1 inches and it's easily my favorite folding display that I've used over the past couple of years. Speaker H: Guys, 8.12 inches. Speaker H: That's no joke.
3:08 Speaker H: It's the largest display on any booxed air foldable and one of the big. Speaker A: Reasons is that it's barely got any reflections when you have this in direct sunlight. Speaker A: And the other big reason for that is the crease. Speaker A: Or should I say lack of crease because honestly you can barely see that the crease even exists on this Oppo. Speaker E: 5 Oppo saying that the crease on this phone is 10% narrower and 50% shallower than the crease on their last phone which was already great. Speaker E: It doesn't look that different to me, but it's clearly vastly superior to the Samsung which you will notice every time you open the thing.
3:40 Speaker G: Look at how this creases. Speaker G: It's barely even there. Speaker G: In fact it looks worse than what it really is. Speaker G: Let's compare that to another phone. Speaker G: Here I have a Huawei Mate X6 and the it's X6 here. Speaker G: Okay, this has quite a bit of a crease and it's probably a little bit better than the Z Fold six's crease, but it's very noticeable. Speaker H: I tested outdoors and with a peak brightness of 2100nits, even direct sunlight isn't an issue.
4:07 Speaker H: The 1 120Hz LTP O refresh rate makes everything feel incredibly smooth when viewing different content. Speaker B: This screen isn't quite as bright as the external one hits around 1400 nits on top brightness, but Oppo has slapped an anti reflective feature film on top of that internal panel and this actually proves just as effective as the Gorilla Glass armor, which you'll find stuck on the front end of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
4:33 Speaker D: The displays are top notch and that crease is nearly invisible. Speaker D: But how does it perform? Speaker D: Let's find out. Speaker A: This is the first foldable that is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Speaker A: I've tried to throw a lot at this phone in the past couple of days to see how it deals with it. Speaker A: And it's dealt with it really well, even if most of that has been a bit of gaming with Call of Duty Mobile. Speaker A: And it's more than powerful running on the seven core version here. Speaker E: The thing's using the next generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip as opposed to the Samsung which uses last year's chip.
5:01 Speaker E: This is basically powered by the thing that you could expect, Samsung's next foldable that will come out in the summer to be powered by. Speaker G: And stating the obvious, yes, it does run really smooth, as expected for 16gb of RAM. Speaker G: Snapdragon 8 Elite, not a problem at all. Speaker G: And I do find it's more comfortable if I play it with the camera module at the bottom. Speaker G: It's not bad. Speaker G: And because it's rounded, it doesn't like cut into your hands or anything. Speaker G: And you've got the two loudspeakers free at the top.
5:27 Speaker B: Gaming is of course a flawless experience. Speaker B: Even really demanding fare like Weather and Waves runs absolutely perfectly on the 100% maxed out visual settings. Speaker B: That frame rate stuck reliably close to the 60 frames per second level the entire time I was gaming on this thing. Speaker C: In a device this thickness thin, you are limited on volume for a great cooling system. Speaker C: And I actually did find that this phone can get decently warm.
5:54 Speaker C: And I even got it to overheat once during early testing, which is rare. Speaker C: It's been years since I've said that about a new phone. Speaker G: Do you notice the throttling? Speaker G: It does throttle the performance down eventually about, well, half the performance of what it originally starts out with. Speaker G: Do you notice it? Speaker G: Not really. Speaker G: It gets a little bit warm. Speaker G: But because Oppo throttles there so much the chipset, the thermals are very good. Speaker D: Powerful chipset, but some thermal concerns.
6:19 Speaker D: Now let's talk about battery life as a critical aspect for foldables. Speaker E: The Oppo uses a brand new type of battery that we've only really started seeing recently. Speaker E: A silicon carbon battery with the highest silicon content. Speaker E: So far you can think of silicon carbon batteries as just more energy dense than traditional lithium ion batteries. Speaker E: And so what this Means is that within less space this phone has managed to squeeze in a 5600 milliamp hour capacity compared to Samsung's 4400. Speaker E: That's a massive difference.
6:45 Speaker B: I haven't struggled to make it through even the longest of days with a single charge of the find N5. Speaker B: No worries. Speaker B: Even the most arduous of days this week where I was up at 6am and using this thing pretty much non stop, I totaled over 8 hours of screen on time and that includes a good bit of Genshin action for about an hour or so. Speaker B: Good bit of video chat action, plenty of video streaming, lots of multitasking and a lot of audio streaming on Spotify and audible in the background.
7:11 Speaker H: It supports 80 watts, superb fast charging and 50 watts wireless wireless charging when affordable wireless charging is faster than iPhone's wireless charging Apple, you might want to take notes. Speaker I: So yesterday because I'm traveling right now for work, I am in Malaysia. Speaker I: So yesterday I had a flight over and you know, at the airport, all that. Speaker I: So in total I was outside I think for like nine hours. Speaker I: And for that nine hours the battery only drained about like 40%.
7:39 Speaker I: So that means this is a phone that can go over 18 hours on a single charge. Speaker D: Outstanding battery life and fast charging. Speaker D: But what about the cameras? Speaker D: Let's see how they stack up. Speaker A: Cameras on foldables that I've used kind of let the phone down, but the main 50 megapixel and three times telephoto that we have here, they do a decent job. Speaker H: The Find N5 uses the same camera technology as the Find X8 series, meaning you still get excellent brochure shots, portrait photography and especially telephoto macro.
8:08 Speaker B: And overall I've been pretty happy with the test shots spaffed out by the oppo find N5. Speaker B: Even in quite low light conditions you get a reasonable amount of fine detail packed in there. Speaker B: Quite representative colors as well. Speaker B: High contrast situations dealt with ably and unlike the recent Galaxy S25s, not much grin when there's high contrast or dim light in either. Speaker E: The main camera is decent, but I do think Samsung has more true to life colors and also it's just a bit more flattering.
8:35 Speaker E: Oppo has this quite crunchy contrasty look that I don't think is for everyone. Speaker E: The ultra wide camera on Oppo is just bad. Speaker E: It's an 8 megapixel camera compared to Samsung's 12 and that is a massive resolution gap. Speaker E: Oppos just doesn't even look fit for a 2025 phone. Speaker G: Very poor performance this is not flagship level. Speaker G: I don't know what happened. Speaker G: Maybe they just couldn't fit in a good enough lens or sensor. Speaker G: But I'm not happy with the ultra wide performance.
9:00 Speaker G: It looks very muddy and just washed out photos. Speaker E: Oppo also has better Zoom. Speaker E: Both have 3 times optical zoom, but Oppo's 3 times optical zoom camera is 50 megapixel compared to Samsung's 10. Speaker E: And boy you can tell there is some more fake AI enhancement going on on Oppo. Speaker E: But even just that aside, you can tell there's more information too. Speaker D: Mixed bag on cameras, the main and telephoto shine, but the ultra wide disappoints. Speaker D: Now let's explore software and productivity features.
9:26 Speaker B: The best thing about The Oppo Find N5 is that slick color OS experience complete with 4 years of OS updates, 6 years of security updates. Speaker E: Have to say the way that Oppo handles multitasking, it remains the gold standard. Speaker E: So let's say for example that you're on Netflix and then you also want a browser tab to do a little shopping on the side. Speaker E: Bam. Speaker E: You can do both in their optimal aspect ratios, fully open at once.
9:51 Speaker H: When it comes to foldables, everyone has split screen features, but I will take a step further with Boundless View. Speaker H: This time it's even smarter. Speaker H: Now all multitasking features are accessible by tapping the attribute dot icon at the top of the screen. Speaker H: From there you can open a second or third app, resize windows and more. Speaker H: Everything is just one template, but it's. Speaker B: The excellent Boundless View experience which really opens up that internal display and makes multitasking on it an absolute piece of piss.
10:23 Speaker B: Just tap the three dots at the top of an app in order to split the screen. Speaker B: There's other ways of doing it as well. Speaker B: You can open up another couple of apps side by side with this thing, but have most of them shunted off the display when you're not actively using them. Speaker H: Oppo has some impressive AI powered document features. Speaker H: Just have AI Assistant for documents and it can summarize translate so even my non English speaking cameraman can follow the script.
10:49 Speaker H: Polish text will continue writing where you left off. Speaker H: It's like ChatGPT but embedded directly into your document workflow. Speaker E: Like you can pull up any photo on this phone, click, enhance clarity, boom. Speaker E: Straight up detail upgrade. Speaker E: And the thing's got this whole separate app called AI Studio which is very cool and very strange. Speaker E: So you get a bunch of free credits when you buy the phone and then you can spend those credits doing things like inserting yourself next to celebrities.
11:17 Speaker E: It works. Speaker B: Basically, just download Oppo's OPlus Connect for Mac app, install that on your MacBook, and you can effortlessly share files to and from your phone. Speaker B: With this Apple slab, he's got to make sure they're both on the same WI FI network and it works A charm. Speaker E: The fact that Samsung has a definitively better ecosystem of surrounding products if you're outside of China and seven years of major Android version upgrades, Oppo phones tend.
